Synagogue Softball Updates for 2012

The Synagogue Softball site has been updated for the 2012 season with the new Schedule, Rules, and Banned Bat list.

As you are all aware, this season has been a most unfortunate one with regards to the amount of games that have been rained out. Like no other season we’ve had in 15 years, 2011 has had a record amount of games canceled due to field conditions. In fact, this is the first time we have every needed to go this deep into June to get all the regular season games played.

In discussing our situation regarding the rained out games of May 15 and after reviewing all the options we have available, it has been decided to cancel the games on the schedule of June 12 and play the games of May 15 on June 12. It comes down to competitive balance.

As indicated on the recent supplemental schedule showing the games from May 15 through June 12, the games of May 15 were the make-up games from February 20. The games of June 12 were the make-up games from March 27. It is our opinion that competitive balance is much more important then the luck of the weather.

So, please prepare to play all games scheduled for May 15 on June 12, same times and fields as stated on May 15. The games that appear on June 12 will not be played.

We believe not enough time is available to get managers to suddenly field their teams on a holiday weekend, not to mention eight games have already been scheduled for May 29.

Also, the idea of moving everything back and playing games on July 3 or 10 was an idea we believe would have been equally unfair not to mentioned very difficult.

So we go with a 13 game season for 2011.

Games of May 15, 2011 — Cancelled

After receiving reports from the Westside and the SF Valley, field conditions are (unfortunately) not playable. Therefore, all games scheduled for today have been canceled. BAS

Division Swap and Schedule Change

Gentlemen:

There has been a shift involving two team in two divisions. Team #20 (Temple Isaiah) is now team #30 and team #30 (Sinai II) is now team #20. Sinai II will enter the C Division with a 2 and 1 record. Temple Isaiah will enter the D Division with a 1 and 2 record as of Sunday March 7, 2010.

With that change, a few of the games involving the teams playing those two teams may have had a shift in a few game times and/or field locations. Attached please find the updated schedule incorporating those changes.
